The first time we sang together
we started singing along to
some song or other
and it turns out you and I
had somehow always
picked different parts
so that when we sing
with Jimmy or James or,
to be honest, with anyone at all,
there is three-part harmony.
We are hymn singers by training,
by passion, by default, by history,
and blending comes as naturally
as loving each other.
